The Welsh Energy Research Centre would like to invite you to the European Regional Development Funds Objective 1 project round off seminar.

Start 9am for Registration

(Due size restrictions this event is limited to 100 people : 140 people attended last year, first come first serve after the priority seating)

AM presentations of the various projects in the morning,

followed by lunch,

PM presentation and discussion sessions for the new thematic strategy groups on marine energy and PV manufacture and deployment.

Further discussions will be held on other task groups needed in the future such as energy storage.

There will be presentations on

  • SMART Meters for multiple inputs such as PV, Micro CHP, anything out of an inverter.
  • Tidal stream mapping for tidal current turbine deployment.
  • Coal Gasification, using the gases from coal and leaving the carbon where it is.
  • PV coatings, using the whole building as a PV panel
  • Combing biomass with coal in large power stations.
  • And others

For more than a year several energy research projects have been progressing, hear their final results and judge if there is commercial potential for Welsh industry.

After lunch served at your table with wine;

The Marine Energy task group, providing a route map for utilizing the marine environment as an energy resource. The task group will be developing a strategy for all forms of energy production including the Severn Barrage, impoundments, wave and currents. Industry, research and Government are represented on this task group and will be helping to plan the delivery of WAG’s Renewable Energy Route map’s marine content;

Followed by the PV task group, whose terms of reference are to substantially decrease the whole systems costs of deploying PV as a micro generation option. Made up of industry such as Corus, Redrow and Sharp and supported by academic researchers and government members;

Followed by open discussions on new task groups needed such as energy storage, CCS and biomass.
